Station Farm, Delamere

The owners of Station Farm were seeking planning permission for the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new dwelling.

Switch Ecology carried out a Preliminary Roost Assessment (PRA) of the site during early 2024. The PRA identified bat droppings in the roof void, confirmed to be brown long eared bat (Plecotus auritus) droppings through eDNA analysis, and other areas of potential around the building.

Bat activity surveys were commissioned and completed during the peak season of 2024. The surveys identified the brown long eared bat roost to be a day roost with an additional day roost of common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) present in the eaves of the building.

On completion of the bat activity surveys Switch Ecology prepared a mitigation strategy to support the planning application.
