Menlove Avenue, Liverpool

Planning permission was being sought for the construction of a new property in the garden of a private residence on Menlove Avenue in Liverpool.

Switch Ecology were commissioned to carry out a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) of the site to establish the baseline habitats present and to identify any protected species issues relating to the proposed development. During the survey the habitats were classified using UKHab classifications and condition assessments were carried out.

On completion of the survey a comprehensive PEA report for the site was prepared outlining the baseline habitats present, the condition assessments for each habitat, where applicable, and any appropriate recommendations relating to the proposed planning application.

Switch Ecology also prepared a biodiversity metric for the site with the baseline habitats based on the habitat classifications and condition assessments prepared during the PEA. The post intervention habitats were prepared based on site plans and discussed with the architect for the site, allowing the required gain in units to be achieved.
