Crow Hill Lodge, Marsden

Planning permission was being sought to create a number of wildlife ponds within an area of private land at Marsden. Steven was commissioned to carry out a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) of the site and to prepare biodiversity calculations for the site, using the DEFRA Metric V3.0, to support the planning application.

Steven carried out a PEA of the site using UKHab classifications and included condition assessments (where appropriate). The survey also looked at the potential presence of protected, notable or invasive species within the site and the surrounding area.

Following the survey the findings from the survey were compiled into a comprehensive report outlining the findings of the survey and any appropriate recommendations. The report included habitat mapping prepared through QGIS, which allowed habitat areas to be calculated and used to calculate the baseline biodiversity units through the DEFRA Metric.

Steven subsequently discussed the site with the client and their architect allowing post development biodiversity units to be calculated.
