Acrefair

Planning permission was being sought for a residential development on an area of land at Acrefair in North Wales. Switch Ecology were commissioned to carry out a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) to support the application for planning permission.

Following the PEA, additional information was requested by the local authority regarding areas of land adjacent to the site and the bat activity present on site. Switch Ecology were therefore commissioned to update the PEA to include the additional areas and to carry out a Night-time Bat Walkover (NBW) and static monitoring on the site.

The NBW was carried out during August 2024 with static recording units remaining erected on trees around the site for a period of five nights following the NBW. The results of the surveys were collated into a report to support the planning application, including GPS tracked NBW results and analysis of the recordings from the static units.
